Mystery Trails is a set of planned eco-treks through the deep jungles of Chamarajanagar range of forests. These eco-treks are designed to give you a lifetime experience of nature in all its pristine glory. Also, the experience of the forest department's trained personnel guiding you makes it a very safe and peaceful trek.
Chamarajanagar forests were closed for nearly two decades due to the overwhelming presence of notorious and legendary bandit - Veerappan. He was shot dead by the police in October 2004. At present, it is open for all to see and experience the mystery of these forests. It would be a revelation to know how the forest brigand lived in dense interiors of these forests. Also, you can see the harsh conditions, various hideouts, his escape routes... and so on.
These eco-trek routes have been planned taking many factors into consideration. One of our primary aims in opening up of these never before seen routes to the public in general is to enable the local tribal community to earn out of their guidance expertise and thus make them tread the path of economic independence. All the routes that are planned are run by Eco - Development Committee comprising of tribals. This committee is created under the aegis of the Karnataka Forest Department for eco restoration and management of forests by local inhabitants. This committee operates all treks with the help of Government Forest Department personnel. This committee is empowered by Government orders.
We hope to do justice to the following objectives too. Educating people about Chamarjanagar forest area's flora and fauna. Impressing upon everyone about the importance of conservation of forests.
Last but not the least, we have ensured that our arrangements give you that elusive experience of a deep connect with nature. We understand that we can achieve our stated objectives only by letting people truly connect with mother nature at her best.
We hope to add more routes as and when possible. This is a constant work in progress and we appreciate feedback from everyone who visits this website and as well from people who have experienced our eco-trek programmes. Please do write a few words back to us.
