Eco-Trek: Bheemeshwari To Chellurehill
Operated by: The Eco - Development Committee reporting to Cauvery Wildlife Division, Karnataka Forest Department



Trek-in-brief: Water, hills, boat ride, river crossing and an easy walk form the parts of this eco trek path. You will have to cross the Ganges of South India - river Cauvery to start the trek. You will be taken around the Chellure hill and back to the start point - Bheemeshwari elephant camp.



Difficulty level: Easy



Must watch or know about:
  • Masheer fish
  • Coracal ride to cross river Cauvery
  • Lunch to be packed or to be had at Jungle lodges and resorts on prior booking. Lunch is not part of this eco trek's tariff


Route details:

Start from the elephant camp site near the Jungle Lodges and Resorts called Cauvery Fishing Camp. Cross the Cauvery in a coracle. Trek through a jungle path around Chellure hill. Cross the river again to reach the camp site. To visualize this trek path please refer the route map and you will know that this is a circuitous trek.



Schedule:

Start at the camp site around 8:00 AM - trek through the jungle around Chellure hill - back to the camp site around 1:00 PM. Please note that you are advised to make own arrangements for lunch. Lunch is not part of this eco trek path programme.

Total distance to be trekked: 7.5 kms



Facilities: The forest department's camping site at Muthathi is a very good place to stay. Please fill the contact form to enquire about the availability.

How to reach / depart to / from Bheemeshwari (the start point):

From Bangalore: Travel to Bheemeshwari by bus - 100 kms

From Mysore: Travel to Bheemeshwari (via Malavalli and Halagur) by bus - 90 kms



This is a round trip from Bheemeshwari around Chellure hill and back to Bheemeshwari. The start point and end point are the same. Refer to the route map for details.
